I will be travelling to Niseko in February 2008, just wondering if you can provide any suggestions on places to stay? I am looking for moderate facilities, close to shops etc. and the ski lifts.

Join the crew! There are a lot of options but you better get in quick. Apparently the main village is pretty booked out already. And February is pretty much the busiest month.
Try shizenkan lodge, it's a backpackers type place but with a few private rooms. They have a website.
It's in Izumikyo which is just outside the main area but serviced by the free shuttle bus so you can get up to the lifts without walking.
But I had a mate last year who rocked up without anything booked and found a place pretty easily.
